The Book of Eli

The Book of Eli is a wonderful futuristic film. I mean, the story was set more than two decades ahead of the current  year. The setting of the film is very unique and compelling. Why? It is as if various calamities passed prior to the portrayal of Denzel Washington's character. The environment is filthy and close to being barren. I noticed that most people of that era are robbers and swindlers. Denzel Washington's character has been fooled twice by a whining lady who is always calling someone to help her fix something. The problem starts to surface when a group of men begin ravaging their victim.

I wrote this piece because I am just curious on what will be the condition of our planet in the future. I never seen a single tree in the film The Book of Eli. The people know nothing about decency and order. If the Book of Eli is the last bible in that era, then it is obvious that such book was unknown to the people. It still has to be shared. For some reasons, we tend to keep our knowledge today so that we could pass the same to the future generation. After all, future decades belong to our loved ones who are still in the stage of growing up today. In order to avoid the things that happened in the film The Book of Eli, we must do something to protect the earth and the next generation's future in terms of intellectual, environmental, social, cultural, financial, and moral aspects.

Jesse James Affairs

Jesse James affairs has been all over the Internet lately. It has been included as a news item or in the list of famous Hollywood home wreckers. I thought it was just Michelle McGee who had allegedly accepted having an affair with Jesse James. However, sources revealed that most of the people around Sandra Bullock's husband knew it as an open secret. Just like Tiger Woods, women are coming out to the open except for the fourth one whose name was kept hidden.Jesse James affairs with Brigitte Daguerre and Michelle Smith were also named.

Hollywood star or not, most women experienced this kind of problem with their marital life. I wonder how Sandra Bullock managed to withstand the situation. Jesse James had been named a whore by some netizens and maybe, more and more girls will show to the world hundreds of photos and emails as proof of their "fling thing" with Jesse James. Know why? Reports had it that Jesse James would always post Internet ads searching for "hot, tattooed biker chicks with big boobs," says a source. Added to that, "He sees their photos, answers the ads and invites the girls to his office." Then, Jesse James affairs is indeed brewing as time goes by.

The Pacific HBO Miniseries

I watched Band of Brothers with awe many times and I was so interested with history then. I am aware that war movies like Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan are all American-side story-telling, but I am more concerned of the acting than any other perspective. I followed Easy Company all throughout and their leader Winters. But this time, the second world war is to be told based on the Pacific, by real stories of some veterans.

The Pacific is a ten-part television World War II mini-series, produced by HBO, Seven Network Australia and DreamWorks, that premiered on March 14, 2010 according to Wikipedia. Part of the people who stood as producers of the expensive project include Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman. The Pacific HBO miniseries was mainly shot in Australia. Besides, The Pacific is lodged basically on two memoirs of U.S. Marines including Eugene Sledge entitled With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa with Robert Leckie entitled  Helmet for My Pillow. The series will narrate the stories of the two war veterans and as well as Marine John Basilone, as the war against the Empire of Japan happened. In addition, the memoirs of Sledge entitled China Marine and Red Blood, as well as the Black Sand, which is the memoir of Chuck Tatum, a Marine who fought alongside Basilone at Iwo Jima were used as basis of The Pacific HBO miniseries. Just like Band of Brothers, the said miniseries will capture the hearts of the viewers and gather more knowledge and understanding regarding the war in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

Is There An Oscar Curse?

Is there an Oscar curse? The answer is no, at least based on my opinion. While it is true that Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Winslet and Hilary Swank have something in common- they all won an Oscar-still, it is not acceptable that it happened because of an Oscar curse. There is no such thing as coincidence.

The question sprouted lately when Sandra Bullock faced an issue having a marital problem with Jesse James. But the issue has nothing to do with Oscar curse. There is a chance for couples to face marital problems. When I married, I realized that couples must hold on to their vows or promises before marriage to make the relationship last. For no matter how powerful love is, there is always a hindrance that couples must face. There will always be disagreements. Hollywood actress or not, Oscar winner or not, married life is an adventure. Keeping the marriage intact and being with one's spouse is all up to the parties involved. Being an Oscar winner has nothing to do with it. When asked, is there an Oscar curse? The answer is basically on the negative.
